Regarding the service manual discrepency, I've heard that there is only one heatsink cover on the new ones and that the line you see is just an etched line on the surface of the metal cover. C.

Quote: fyi, the 2.5 ghz g5's have a ship date of on or before 8/2/04. Y'know, a lot of people complain that Apple never gives the consumer a heads up on what's coming next, but let's face it - their "releases" are essentially roadmaps in disguis…

I suspect Apple's "Liquid Cooling" is probably Fluinert or something along those lines. I also wonder if the pump is going to make any kind of objectionable noise. Onlooker... damn boy, you must be made of money if you're going with an Alienware …

The refresh went just as I expected... since they didn't update in Feb/Mar you knew they weren't going to hit 3.0 by the summer. Liquid cooling for the top end machine is somewhat surprising, I'm wondering if there are some underlying heat issues th…

The Dual 2.5s seem to require liquid cooling... sounds like they have a few heat issues... C.

Yup... the refresh was just as I expected. I hoped there would be better middle model (like a dual 2.2) but them's the breaks. Good upgrade though. C.

I still like to work in 9 as much as possible. It just plays nicer with our various printers and output devices. A lot of apps are simply more mature and have fewer issues on OS9. Also, OS 9s networking with our menagerie of servers is clearly s…

Well... I just had a look at Think Secret's article and I can see the new G5 lineup is shaping up just as I expected. I guess we'll all find out soon enough but let's hope the top end machine isn't ridiculously (eg. ~$3,500) priced. It would b…

Quote: The G5 looks better because its perforated aluminum is in one contiguous piece. It's understated but still elegant. So is the Lian Li as far as I can tell... C.

Oh I agree the "covergence" phone is the way of the future - no question. Some, like the O2 XDA II, are already pointing the way. The next big thing, of course, will be TV on your "CP" and improved capacity and functionality in the rest. GPS is a…

I'm quite surprised to hear this actually... I know at least a couple of people who own Clie's and generally rave about them. I wonder if they're also facing increasing competion from Win Mobile. That's too bad really, I quite liked the Clie's st…
