What I need to do is convert an non-encyrpted home DVD recording to DV for editing. Handbrake doesn't convert to DV and Transcoder Redux choked on the DVD image. Any ideas? I'd rather not pay for software to do this if I can avoid it. Thanks.

Good for them! The product seems sound, though I have no personal experience. They seem to have a pretty loyal following of users and I've yet to read a story of unrecoverable data and/or outright failure. I wish I could justify the expense to …

All I really want is a way of connecting my non-unibody MBP to the 24" display... anybody?

Mucho expensive but if they get too noisy, I guess I'll have to replace them. Thanks for the info. I never thought to look at ifixit.

My MBP has fan noise... I cleaned them last week when I had it open for a HD upgrade but it didn't help. Any ballpark idea what Apple charges to replace a fan?

I just put a Seagate 320GB (5400rpm) into my MBP C2D 2.16 last week... paid $91 CAD for the drive at Canada Computers. Installation was not nearly as painful as I was expecting. The difficult part for me was getting the top lid unsnapped from the…

You can use the "Export" functionality in iPhoto to export the original files to the appropriate location(s) and then remove them from the iPhoto library.

Too late now I don't want to take my MBP apart again. I was happy that it came back alive after installing the upgraded drive. On a side note, the machine seems faster than before presumably due to the newer/faster drive.

Dubious source... if this were true, this wouldn't be the first time we heard about it. You did hear Steve Jobs' comments about Blu-Ray, right? http://www.engadget.com/2008/10/14/s...a-bag-of-hurt/
