Uh, Garmin made the hardware, why should Apple be responsible for the drivers? Why is it third-party software (such as RouteBuddy) can support Garmin GPSes on OS X, but Garmin cannot? Either the person you talked to is misinformed or they're f…

And I don't expect iChat anytime soon... would make logical sense to grow the iChat user base, but at the same time, it'd be another reason for Windows user *not* to switch. If Apple puts too many of their flagship apps on the competing OS, the …

I don't see it happening either... the more Apple software ported to Windows, the less compelling reason for people to "switch" to a Mac. Besides, Picasa appears to be a hell of a lot better than iPhoto is. Hasn't anybody written a Picasa exp…

You could use a combination of Hamachi and RealVNC. It's not Messenger based and would require some manual connection setup/teardown, but it's viable. VNC performance is absolutely lousy compared to Microsoft's RDP (which Remote Assistance and…

The Cha-Ching user interface shows great potential but the functionality simply isn't there. If 1.0 is notably better and more feature filled, I will happily pay full price for it.

FWIW, Messenger for OS X does not support Remote Assistance... neither do any of the MSN clones available for OS X (like AdiumX) so, no, you cannot do what you want on OS X.

Cha-Ching is very simplistic and lacks even the most basic features from Quicken or MS Money. I tried it. I wanted to like it, but I gave up very quickly. It just doesn't leave me confident in it's ability to manage my accounts/credit cards. …

Since you provide so little information, it's kinda difficult to determine what the problem might be. If you're using a CRT display, I would guess it's failing. If you're not, well, I don't know what you're seeing.

The Mac Mini is often brought up in online conversation as being the next in line for a Core 2 Duo update. This should happen eventually but I think when is anybody's guess. The same old story applies- if you need a computer now, buy it. If you…

Funny, the local dealers (Toronto, Ontario, Canada) all seem to balk at the idea of a implementing a satisfaction warranty. Even the largest Mac dealers here don't have it, only the chain stores. I couldn't imagine having to go through what you'…

I run it on a consumer machine now, but it was a joke... hence the smiley. No sense of humour this morning?

You're lucky to have such a good dealer, but it sounds like you've dropped some serious coin there.

Wait for that new LED-backlit display coming from Samsung... won't be cheap, but at least it's supposed to have an even backlight http://www.engadget.com/2007/04/11/s...lcd-for-vista/

Could also be NFS (nfs://) as well, but I would guess that most large NAS boxes come with dual protocols now... I know NetApp didn't use to. CIFS was an add-on.

Pictures of fully clothed women in public places is hardly softcore porn.

No problem... Glad you got it!

Try searching on the Ubuntu forums for users with similar issues. I've never tried to boot Linux on my MBP and have no intention of doing so
