Don't forget that most of us on here are generally advanced computer users. For a start, Joe Bloggs out there on the street typically does not know how to install Windows. As soon as they see that blue text setup screen, they are lost. Create a part…

I did read somewhere (and the page escapes me) that if bugs were found when compiling the x86 version of OS X and the code was altered to fix it, then the corresponding code would be changed for PowerPC, too! So in some instances, the Intel build di…

Yes, that point above is right. I've read somewhere about Intel's virtualization technology which can allow processors to run multiple OS's simultaneously. You could use OS X for your day-to-day stuff and then flip to Windows to relax with a game. …

The spooky thing is it's got a "3.2GHz custom PowerPC processor with 3 symmetrical cores". Hmmm.

To be honest, it doesn't matter to me either way! I haven't got a Power Mac now and I won't be getting one again. I've just shelled out on an Athlon 64 PC and I'm saving for an iBook now.

Checking on the Mac gamer's site, the X800 is indeed out-of-stock and has been for at least two months now! Lord knows what is going on there. Maybe they're readying their new Fudo core for Mac as well as PC together?

I was wondering that. It looks like the Radeon 9650 is just slightly more powerful than the previous Radeon 9600XT. But the fact that the 9800XT and the X800XT are now missing is rather spooky!!

So, what's the gubbins with the 2.7 model? Is this version going to be like the 2.5 was with water-cooling? And the 2.3 version like the old 2.0 air-cooled?

Does it ship with Quicktime 7 then? Or is that a downloadable component later on?

And just to really stick my oar in... Can you ever see the day when the hardware just doesn't sell and the only option is to make OS X available to Intel/AMD platforms? Would Steve just let Apple cease trading rather than do that? What, and I'…

Lynx would be a good one but there are too many other products by that name - a web browser, a range of men's toiletries, a courier company, amongst others.

If this offer is only for pre-orders UP TO May 31, that suggests to me that Tiger's launch will be between 1 and 30 June...

I'll just add my two ? cents in as well. ? Best Browser: Toss up between Firefox and Omniweb. Both have features I like. If they combined the two it would be the best browser on the planet. ? Best MP3 software: iTunes. ? Anti-virus: I don't…

I use Tomato Torrent as it has a nice interface. I did use Azureus at first but that was the only program ever to repeatedly kernel panic my Mac. I think there is an issue with DP Power Macs which they are working on.

I played about with a sample video from one of the photography review sites. You can just import the video straight into iMovie but then export it back as Quicktime - I think you might need QuickTime Pro to do it. When you export it back, you can ma…

That could be it - I noticed it when using Omniweb (normal) vs Safari (metal). Cheers.

So if Tiger was purely 64-bit, it would run at least twice as fast as Panther does?

When I first got my Power Mac, it kernel panicked quite frequently and I noticed one of my Java apps was always running when it did it. Since I stopped using the pesky app, OS X has been rock solid. Amazing stuff.
