hey thanks for everyones input, i'm trying out mactheripper and dvdbackup, and they both seem to work perfectly. i too agree with the idea that if its your dvd then you should be able to import it, but i just wanted to thank everyone for the help.

funny, I just checked my songs and found that the song with the highest bit rate was one that i imported from garageband. it's bit rate was 1411 kbps

yea emac is generally geared toward educational use, and has always been the lowest end desktop so i wouldn't expect G5 in it for at least a year.

i think it is legal, which is why i was wondering about software for it, but fast dvd copy looks pretty good, aside from the price ($99 for copying software?).

apple always overcharges for their ram so if you want a better deal go with 3rd party. as for different brands crucial has always worked great for me, but i have no idea whether you can get a better price from a different company.
