We won't know till it happens, but one thought being tossed about is that the analysts are changing their opinion of Apple and starting to view it as a steady revenue producer rather than being dependent on yearly success of the iPhone introductions…

I disagree with Fraser Speirs that all data will move to the cloud. Some will, no doubt. It is very convenient to keep documents on iCloud and open them on the iMac or the iPad as needed. However, I think there are valid cases for keeping your docu…

Actually, what was used for the analysis was SEM/EDS. The SEM causes the sample to emit characteristic x-rays and the EDS (Energy Dispersive X-ray Spectrometer) measures the x-rays forming a spectrum which identifies elements in the sample. I've bee…

Great article covering a time of big changes. Thanks. Brought back a lot of memories.

I use the elaborate stand that looks like a Classic Mac. I love it. It looks cool and it anchors the watch. https://www.elago.com/w-stand_apple-watch/w3-stand-white

Interesting speculation at the end about the future of computers. It could be that the CPU will be reduced to a kind of dispatcher with various coprocessors doing all the heavy lifting.

Did you get a chance to try the feature where you can add your own words to the vocabulary? I am really interested in this. It would be nice to use dictation, but I write technical pieces and need specialized vocabulary. I suspect that I don't need…

I wonder how much better the noise cancellation is? I'm still using a pair of QC 15s that I just use when flying. Cutting the cabin noise really helps cut the stress of traveling.

Makes me sad to hear this. I like Aperture a lot.

Google closed down over 7% after hours partly due to poor Pixel sales. They are cutting back on development of phones and tablets.

I'm curious what you think about using an app to clean up the sound from the iPhone mic. After hearing about it on an AppleInsider podcast I tried using the Spire app and was quite impressed (for an amateur) at how it made my voice sound. I make sho…

The devil is probably in the details, but the settlement doesn’t seem bad for Apple. Qualcom had been pushing for up to a 5% royalty. At $9 a phone that is about 1% and roughly what Apple had negotiated for earlier years.

Question: aren’t your steps tracked by your iPhone, not the Watch? Definitely if you don’t have a Watch you can track steps with the iPhone.

Siri is ok for me. I’m not a heavy user, but she gets it right much of the time. I can do simple unit conversions, arithmetic, check the outside weather, get the football scores and schedules just by talking to my Watch. That’s convenient.

The appearance of Oprah was the most interesting part of the event. I'm not a follower but I recognize that Oprah is extremely well known with a huge fan base. Until recently the way she reached that fan base was through a TV program. Now it seems s…
