Airport base stations are, to the best of my knowledge, capable of doing this. They can repeat a given network and in fact, this is what schools that use the Airport do to provide adequate coverage to large structures.

what part of future hardware do you not understand? heh. just foolin'. in before the lock

JD: You are right. The best thing for Apple would be to throw G5 into the Powermac line, Apollo into the iMac (or whatever succeeds the iMac in that market), Apollo into the TiBook, and let IBM go balls out with the Sahara into the G3 Now, …

"anti-technology rock" you misspelled iMac.

its true. and its expensive. if it weren't for x , apple would be hurting

Apple is missing the boat on ADC. Imagine, for a second, if Apple had stuck with DVI (or if DVI+ was more widely implemented than just Formac and Apple). Clearly, the Cinema Display is a coveted piece of hardware for everyone...yet Apple hasn't …

[quote]I wouldn't say that OS X is "highly optimized" for AltiVec. Some yes, but not highly. In my experience G3's and G4's at equivilant Mhz perform pretty much the same. you're not serious...

I think the smart money would be to get a iMac. Especially if they can do it for around 1000-1300 with a fast G4, >700MHz. With an LCD, I think it would be a nice machine for all but the most serious of professionals. I'd like to get a G…

hey gamblor. what's happening?

The iMac, in its current incarnation, is "played out." In practice, Apple isn't a company to keep products around for sentimental reasons (take a look at the Apple product history if you don't believe me). The current iMac will stay around for…

Hey bad boy, Moores Law gives no information as to what actually goes into a product. It simply sketches processor development. And JD, what the hell is a Sierra G3? Do you mean the Sierra C3--GMC's new top-flight luxury truck, or do you mea…

[quote]You're really missing the point. Actually, subjective impressions of the iBook 500's speed (or lack thereof) in OSX is not the issue. Matsu said the iBook 500 trumps the TiBook 400. It does not. Both in subjective impressions of rel…

Maybe. Thats a subjective opinion. But try this: get a TiBook 400 and run your cursor quickly from end of the dock to the other (with small size and high mag). Like butter. Now try the same thing with your iBook. Big difference. Try compar…

I'm typing from an iBook 500 with 640MB of RAM. This thing does not even come close to my Ti400 with 384 MB of RAM in OSX. The G3 can't handle OSX without brute force. Seriously, only the 600MHz and greater G3 procs run OS X decently. SIMD is …

Companies like Intel and AMD have release dates for a reason....its a shame Apple has to take this route. Ultimately, its done Apple, and its investors and customers, more harm than good. Everyone likes a pleasant surprise (like the iPod) but this…
