I've tried to follow the blog post you linked but its only made matters worse. I couldn't open ANY program at all so I decided to restart my laptop and now I can't even turn it on!!!!!

Hi, iMovie is also crashing for me. It crashes as soon as I open it or a few seconds after when I'm trying to create a new project. I've tried deleting the 3ivx files but that seems to have made no difference - same with deleting the com.app…
