Strikes me that this could suggest a San Francisco connection for OS X name - maybe " Golden Gate"? The "epicenter" thing is of course associated with earthquakes and thus 1906? Whatever...

It's instructive to see what Edward Tufte, the high guru of these things, has to say about Power Point - devastating. http://users.ha.uth.gr/tgd/pt0501/09/Tufte.pdf As one who gave innumerable pitches during my career, I ended up doing presentat…

Updated my iPad2, took maybe half hour, not glitches. No problems after update as best I can tell but then I never had any problems - reboot, etc. - before either. My experience is that iOS 8 has been excellent on my iPad2 and I sympathize with …

Why do people think that your answer to a security question has to have anything to do with the question? Q: "Where do you want to live when you retire?" A: "In the same grave as Dracula." or A: "Secretariat was the best horse to ever win the T…

I'm highly suspicious. See image below with contrast enhanced by Photoshop. That logo has some faint lines around it. Impossible to know where they come from. But if I were going to add a cutout logo to the back of something, that effect could e…

It struck me at the time and have wondered about it since - Phil Schiller at the introduction of the 5S last year, in reference to the A7 CPU: "A desktop class processor." I can't conceive that the statement was just an idle, throwaway hype line.…

Article says - "The system will also be available in the aftermarket with units from Alpine and Pioneer." Could use some help in interpreting that. I have a 2014 Ford Edge with MyFord Touch/Sync. Does the quote mean I will have to buy somethin…

Anybody who believes that a nine day weather forecast has any meaning whatsoever probably voted for Michele Bachmann, believes Dick Cheney, and owns many, many bridges.

Unless I missed it, neither the article nor any of the comments include the word "app" which is amazing. Does this thing run apps from external developers? If so, how many are available now? What kind of app store is there?

It strikes to me that Android phone users might be better off if their phones were replaced by wooden blocks shaped and painted to look like a phone. The functionality wouldn't be noticeably different but at least they would be immune to malware.

If we can rashly speculate that 10.10 will be the last version of OS X before OS XI rears its head - so the end of the road - then the town of ZZYZX in San Bernardino County is the only possible name for it. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zzyzx,_Cali…

There are two noticeable dips in the plotted curve. However, it is inconceivable that the number of iOS adoptions actually declined to create the dips. The chart is not measuring adoption rate, it is measuring some obscure metric dealing with ad i…
