Thanks for the information. I can look forward to the iPadOS 26 upgrade on all but a couple of my devices. One of them will definitely get the first or second public beta.

I am quite impressed with the changes coming to iPadOS 26. Like any operating system upgrade it remains to be seen which older iPads don’t make the cut, but yeah, this definitely the most consequential upgrade we’ve seen in a very long time.

This all hinges on your time frame of reference. If you were developing and selling applications in the 1980s, 1990s, or early 2000s the model that Apple has put in place is a massive benefit and windfall for developers. Something like this was tota…

I too would like Apple to add the ability to use a dedicated allocation of your iCloud Storage as a true backup service. Maybe treat it as cloud storage volumes with each one tied to individual Macs, you know, like they do with iPhone and iPad cloud…

By including only the last four (4) releases you captured what was probably an outlier in iOS14 at 90%. I came up with a mean of 83.3 by including all ten (10) previous releases. This means iOS 18 was only 1.3% lower than the average (mean) of th…

I have no doubt that smartphone thefts are a major problem in the UK as they are in many other places. The claim that smartphone manufacturers are benefiting from these crimes and therefore taking no action to quell the crimes is utter nonsense. Ot…

There’s the notion of a dumpster fire inside a dumpster fire, i i.e., dumpster fire squared. I think we’re at dumpster fire to the fifth power now, to be optimistic. It might even be worse.

The president telling companies to eat the tariffs is like a mob boss telling his henchmen to hide the bodies. Nothing to see here!

This makes sense if Apple intends to keep releasing upgraded versions of their operating systems on a yearly basis. With the old numbering system they could release upgrades whenever they were actually ready, which may have made things a bit easier …

It’s not all bad for Nothing. “ … Nothing can focus on making better devices for a smaller group …” With 0.1% market share they can chalk up that one as a win! Woo hoo. My perspective about AI is influenced by me considering how an automobile i…

All of this turmoil seems to be attributed to one man. But don’t forget that there are 535 + 9 other people who collectively have the power to reign in this guy. I can’t imagine there are even half that number of people who are willing to sell out t…

I had a small Control4 setup about 20 years ago that was only accessible on my TV and eventually my iPhone. The cost of the system and trivial upgrades, like iPhone access, were ridiculously expensive, like $400 for a license to use the iPhone app. …

I really wish the United States would designate Memorial Day as a Day of Remembrance rather than a holiday, like Canada and European countries do with similar days of national acknowledgement of significant events. In the US the meaning of Memorial …

The closest thing I’ve seen to a home hub so far is Home Assistant running on a headless server like a Raspberry Pi. It’s a decent integration and aggregation point for pretty much everything in your home that has connectivity. Its biggest drawback …

I wouldn't go as far as @Massiveattack has has gone, but I too feel a sense that Apple hasn't finished with iOS 18 and macOS 15 yet. I don't want Apple pushing out anything that's half-baked, but this past year since WWDC has felt more trickle-out t…
