I believe the RAM is soldered to the motherboard. My recommendation is if you don't absolutely need the MBA, wait until SSD prices go down. For most people, 2 GB is enough. If you require more, then wait for the second generation MBA.

There comes a point where a phone becomes too small and too skinny to comfortably hold in your hands. I would rather see more stuff crammed into the next iPhone than see the phone get thinner. 3G, 16-24GB memory, VOICE DIALING, etc.

I don't think so. I think the iPhone uses its own SIM card (that has a marker in it to let the iPhone know it's an original iPhone SIM).
