Don't know about Yosemite, but I suggest you put an SSD in place of the hard drive. That will dramatically improve its performance. I did this with an old Core 2 Duo/GMA950 Mac Mini and it is now a great machine.

As bad as it is, I'd rather use Pages 5 than Microsoft Word. Word has been painful to use, so much so I abandoned it shortly after buying Office 2011.
