Even if the commission rate is identical the crucial difference is that no one is forced to use Steam… they choose to because they prefer it. People are forced to use the App Store and no alternative is allowed.

Apple should get rid of the ads altogether, they're only a detriment to organic app discovery, and make the App Store feel cheap. Curation is where it's at, not giving the highest bidder the best spot.
