There's an argument about the name on the Chimera mailing list. Basically, there's a defunct Unix browser project called "Chimera". Nobody can decide whether to just steal the name, to stick with the name "Navigator", or to pick something else.

I agree with kcmac. I like Chimera because it *doesn't* have any preferences. It renders HTML; end of story.

I played Civ I, II, and Alpha Centauri, but I've actually been pretty disappointed with Civ III. If I had the choice again, I wouldn't purchase it.

It ran dog slow for me at first (Pismo 400). But: turn off the Quartz text display option, at the initial options screen. About a 100% speedup for me; now it's just slightly slower than Alpha Centauri, and easily fast enough to play.
