If they can release a million in the first year, it would only be if they have already been stockpiling the displays for a year. 10 million seems unlikely unless they have another supplier coming onboard or if Apple convinced Sony to significantly i…

I wouldn’t say Apple was outfoxed in the 90s. Apple just lost their way. It took Steve Jobs return and acquiring another operating system to get out of bad engineering decisions of the time. Apple needed a leader. At the time it was Steve Jobs corre…

Frankly Google iOS apps are awful. They look way too much like Android apps often using UX that doesn’t make sense on iOS.

Improving thermal conductivity in iPhone 16 Pro does not mean there is an issue with the 15 Pro. It has performed fine for me. A little warm after processing photos for a day or so, but it hasn’t had a problem easily overheating under load.

Right to repair should definitely be applied to the battery since that will likely need replacement every 3 years. This is the closest thing to the origins of right to repair in the tractor and automobile industry. In my opinion, right to repair sho…

New features are often in development for years, so one week isn’t going to impact that much. In fact it would surprise me if it were only one week. It might just be spend a week testing and looking through bug reports then spend more time if needed.

That green display projected on your palm reminds me of a 90s era Palm Pilot. Text rendering looks very Palm Pilot like too. They literally made the Palm Pilot your palm.

Turns out this might be half true. Wccftech’s sources say a newly redesigned A17 will be coming to the standard iPhone 16, but it will be based on the newer N3E process.

If Google lost their search dominance I think Android would suffer. Google has a very well built house of cards, but if search fails everything else probably fails. Android is too big to die, but a lot of people are tied to Google services on Androi…

Actually it does make sense. Apple will not want to produce the A17 longer than it needs to. The N3B process took some shortcuts and was just a way to start making chips for Apple before they were actually ready for the N3 process node. Next year th…

The analysts don’t know anything for these low volume parts. Anything could happen. It is always possible it will ship with the M3 and not need a refresh for several years. I’m certainly buying one as early as possible in anticipation of it being s…

Technically TCP/IP is easy to put a man-in-the-middle too, but that is why we build stuff on top of it to make it secure. This is just more difficult for devices because it is harder to protect the client certificates on them. If you can extract the…

Although I prefer Siri for the Apple ecosystem integration, Google assistant and Alexa's death might be overstated here. I think Apple is the least likely to drop services compared to these other players. Apple tends to stick with what they start. G…

I think this is bigger than just API access. It feels a bit like a proxy war between those that run subreddits and the suits that monetize it. It isn’t just API developers, those that run the subreddits want a seat at the table too.

Famous last words. I hear the kids prefer Discord over clueless CEOs… Maybe Mastodon or Twitter will introduce a new community feature? Elon Musk has been talking about getting in to other areas of social media
