"proprietary" seems to be the new "Nazi" - a word thrown about 'cos it's a bit stickier than mud, but has little real meaning when out of context. Personally, I kind of like intellectual property.

I've tried using Gnome, and it ran a lot of deeply ugly windows which sat badly with my windowmaker installation - in my mind, a much cleaner and nicer looking GUI. Ok, ok, I know one's a window manager and another's a......something, but there must…

Machines are just hard to play to - it took me ages to get the hang of keeping time with a drum machine - and that's after I'd been playing in bands for a few years. BTW, Pro Tools Free is pretty darn nice, considering.

As far as Joe Average cares, Web-compliant means "Works in Internet Explorer" and that's that, whatever the W3C care to say.

OK, I had a look at the trial version of Freeway, all I can say is: "what? No source editing?" *wrinkles nose*

Hi there, I'm looking for a basic WYSIWYG/HTML editor type of program; at the moment I'm still stuck with Pagemill in Classic ('cos it was free), but I'm really keen to get out of the Classic rut as quickly as possible. As far as actual desig…

Sounds like you just had a loose connection there. BTW, has anyone found a way to get rid of the disgusting brown gunk that builds up on the inside where the two halves of the "shell" meet? Or is is just me?

Is it slow in a spinning-cursor sort of way, a disk-thrashing sort of way, or anything else? What have you noticed to be slow about it - i.e. is the finder unresponive, do apps take a while to load, etc.. I have noticed though that consumer macs…

I really think you'd qualify for a replacement with that battery, you know; that can't be right. Thanks for an insightful review; One thing - I suspect that the screen flickering might be down to the power management software; have a look at the…

Griffin are coming out with a new gadget which has a wider selection of audio inputs, combined with a 4-port USB hub. It looks pretty nice.
