My 2018 2.6 Ghz I7 MBPw/ 32 RAM is plenty "fast" for me. The only problem I have with it is that the fans are almost always on, if not blowing up an actual storm, even when Activity Monitor says it's more than 80% idle. Fan noise is a problem for me…
