  • Shared video memory? No CD-RW? No 802.11g? OOOF Gigabit ethernet is a plus (but I wonder how many will ever be connected to another gigabit device ).
  • R360 is indeed a 9800XT (the 9800 Pro was R350, the 9600s are RV350/360).
  • Quote: And I predict that Apple will still have 32 bit processors in their lineup until 2006. No way the OS is going to be all 64-bit by then. Mac OS currently works fine on the PowerMac G5: why should this not be the case for future G5 based mo…

  • The Mac OS X install CD allows you to zero all data and 8 way random write. From the install screen, look for "Disk Utility" in the menus: these options are accessed by the "options" buttons. If you don't have a Mac OS X CD that the iMac will boo…

  • Possible translation: it would run on current Apple hardware, but it would suck, except on G5s and the most recent PowerBooks? Possible inference: waiting until the iMac G5 is released?
  • The only Mac that it's likely yo be in is the PowerMac, but it doesn't need a revision to support it. Oddly, Apple already sell the X800's direct competitor, the nVidia 6800. Interesting.
  • The GeForce 6800 GPU isn't necessary for a 30" display, only its dual DVI capability. So why restrict dual DVI to the top end card, when a Radeon 9600/GeForce 5700 could also do it while not enroaching on the PCI slots' space?
  • Why can't Xbox 2 have a liquid cooling system? After all, XBox 1 is huge (so they're not averse to space) and IIRC the Dreamcast had liquid cooling.
  • Quote: Holy shit. We're going to have a happy ending. Hooray! Quote: Incidentally, the iMac's working a treat. Hooray! Two happy endings for the price of one.

  • Quote: The only use it's important for is video work I presume Modern/shipping* video cards cope fine with 2D operations, including office tasks, video editing and the like, unless you have a truly monster-sized desktop (like the Apple 30"). A f…
  • Quote: does it have a slot or is it able to have a pc card installed if i ever feel like having a cellular modem (doubtful but just in case) You could use a Bluetoothed phone as a cellular modem
  • Surely the Rage Pro doesn't fully support OpenGL inn the first place?
  • Quote: Unfortunately Maxon seem to be waiting for a Metrowerks (read Motorola!) G5 compiler which might be some time coming. Which compiler were they using? How does it compare to gcc 3.x and IBM's xlc for G5 compilation? And surely Motorola don…
  • More music related features or more "other" features?
  • I too like Blizzard's non-realistic style, but why does it need a 64MB graphics card? Damn you, GeForce 420 Go!
