• That's definitely the 9800 XT. The 9600 doesn't have a silver heatsink. Plus, this one's heatsink is so tall it blocks the adjacent PCI slot.

• No need to zero the drive - I don't think that's even an option with Mac OS X. Just hit the options button and choose "Erase and install" during the installation process. Doesn't take more than a few extra seconds.
