I edit HDV on my Macbook 2.0 Ghz white with FCP. I was thinking of upgrading to the Core2Duo but I doubt it would give me noticeably faster render times. I think that the "old" Macbooks are just fine and people should only upgrade if and when Ap…

Oh snaps! What's next, 24-inch iMacs?

Not for me. I already have a 24" Monitor.

At school, I used Dual 2.3 G5 Powermacs for FCP for six solid months before the Macbooks came out. I was ready to shell out $2000+ because the performance was so great. After reading the MB's specs, I picked one up. Let me tell you: It's just …

Yes, I would buy an ibook if I didn't use my Macbook for Video and Audio editing. My friend has a G4 ibook and even to this day, it's still a cool little machine that can do everything he needs (simple tasks).

You don't sound too happy. "Mooing" got you down? Or is it the skin-frying heat? Let's not forget the groovy discoloration! I like it. I use it for Final Cut Studio and Logic Pro and it is everything I need.8)

Yes. It's a great machine (which is why I was willing to put up with the heat and the "Moos"). Now it's even better (or at least it's what it should be).

Well, running WORD under Rosetta with only 512 MB is pretty bad. I don't know if there are any free word processors out there that are Universal Binaries, but if so they should run fine with 512 MB. WORD was always slow, though. Even on my old …

More RAM definitely helps. I used Office on 512 MB and it was SLUGGISH! Boom! I popped in 2 GB RAM (not for office but for Final Cut Studio) and it runs fine now. It's not fast mind you, but it's useable.
