I would very much like that dual 3 Gz G5 they are promising in one year's time.

I agree. The new machines, in combination with the OS, are truly impressive. Apple has finally regained its primus inter pari status in the computer world.

You could put an 80 GB drive in that machine, and everything would work fine.

The best way of getting free mail is to get your own mail server. Get DSL with a static ip address, put together a cheap DNS/IIS/Mail box, and you will be able to give others free e-mail accounts.

I have sold plenty of stuff on e-bay, including two Macs. But I have never bought anything on e-bay. Somehow e-bay has never been able to fully get my trust. My cousin, on the other hand, is heavily into numismatics. He has amassed an impressive …

Those techs usually need command line, so they can run the ipconfig command, which will tell them what the NIC's hardware (MAC) address is, etc. Ipconfig will also let them see if the machine is picking up the DHCP lease, DNS addresses, etc. I s…

Fire wire bus barely caries enough power for 2.5 inch IDE drives.

Hurrah for the malodorous masses! Reaction to scent is a function of conditioning. I bet you wouldn?t last a day in the 17th century French Court. They used a whole lot of perfume back then but never really bathed.

I feel momentary grief for the person. And then never really think about it again. The degree of grief or sorrow I feel is a direct function of my familiarity with the deceased person. The better I know him/her, the more emotional discomfort I feel.…

Some of those movies have had positive effect on me. Something akin to anesthesia! I recall seeing "Dude, where is my car?." That movie had the effect on me similar to a good 2-hour nap. After the movie I felt like most of the lactic acid in my bloo…

I have two degrees in "soft" sciences: Cultural Anthropology and Political Science. Now, however, I find myself making money working as a Windows Systems Administrator full time and Mac/PC consultant part time. Go figure.

I live in Rosslyn, a stone throw away from Washington DC. Cross the bridge over Potomac and you are in Georgetown. I dread provincial living. Move back closer to life that is both urban and urbane.

Can you make her pupils constrict in that very last segment when there is light in her eyes. That would make things look much more realistic.

To most people without major biochemical imbalances, life is precious regardless of how bad things are out there. We always feel like we are in full control of our stints on this planet. This, I guess, is what makes us human. We understand, on the i…

You MUST visit the Bricksckeler! Over 600 different beers (served by country, and the menu changes every week) and they server Buffalo meat. A one-of-a-kind place. Location: 23 and P NW.

I believe that the 60GB drive is not merely bigger, but it is also faster. The 40GB spins at 4200 RPM; the 60GB version has the rotational speed of 5400 RPM. This is of extreme importance for OS X, which loves to swap, especially when there is less-…

In essence, a switch and a hub are the same thing. Except for one major thing: each switched port is its own network segment, where as the whole hub is a network segment, with all of the devices connected to it sharing that segment. In other wo…
