  • I just got one from www.pbparts.com for like $105.
  • I remember going in to one looking for a particular video card. I ask one of the sales clerks, and he did almost like one of those Best Buy commercials where they open a hatch in the floor behind the counter and disappear down a ladder.
  • If your powerbook is going to be unplugged for more than a couple days, I would shut it off, otherwise just put it to sleep. I've turned off my powerbook once in the last 2 years, I always let it to sleep. There is hardly any difference between shut…
  • It seems the ad with that talking head about an online degree is doing it now too. I'll actually see an ad for something else show up first, then the page blanks.
  • Dangit it's happening again. It seemed to have been fixed that day or the next, but now it's happening to me again. As soon as the page loads, it goes forward to the empty page. Hit Back, page loads, then jumps forward to blank page again. If I go b…
  • Nice one, had me at least half-way fooled. I thought I saw a couple smiley faces in the second photo, but the part of me that wanted to 'believe' dismissed it as compression artifacts. BTW, what happened to that .mac account that hosted the firs…
  • One more nail for the coffin: The only thing that bothers me is the neck is at an angle on the expo photo.
  • If it is the Lacie display, it is heavily modified. The Lacie has buttons along the bottom, a slotted grill along the back, and has a dark blue matte plastic frame. They would have to remove the buttons, fill the holes, fill in back grill, smooth ou…
  • The Apple Store online always charges sales tax, that's why I always order anywhere else. It does sound like you have a good case there though. Unless it's a BTO you could just cancel your order if they don't approve it.
  • While a quad system would certainly be nice, I don't really see it happening (except perhaps 2 dual-core processors). The people in the business of needing a lot of processors aren't going to rely on a single user workstation, but an array of Xserve…
  • If you can open it in Graphic Converter, have you tried saving it out of that as another tiff or photoshop file?
  • My guess: a special 'holiday edition' eMac. Take the regular $799 eMac and throw in some extra software and goodies.
  • Here's an idea: They come out with the 970 based uber machines, but they are more expensive, like starting at $1800. Then they come out with the cheap headless-imac G4 based system that everyone has been clamoring for, to fill the void.

  • I would have to agree with most of the posts for and against osx. My biggest complaint is the 'dumbing down' of how the system sits and organizes itself on my hard drive. OS9 had its share of hidden files, but they were not critical to the system if…

  • [quote]Originally posted by Clive: Rok, please do some research before you post on this, XPress already has a direct save to PDF and has for some time. Also, as pointed out, Distiller has a lot of options for creating PDF from PS files, and can par…
  • My sentiments exactly. My parents are screwed since they have a business based on iTools email.
