I don't know of any such function in Photoshop on Mac. The closest you can get is to push 'F' when you have a file open in PS.

Try Onyx http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/20070, a pretty damn good - and free - tool for cleaning just about every cache on your computer. It also performs some maintenance and optimisation routines.

Almost 2 seconds on a 2x2.7 G5, at least the first time after startup. Once cached, it's immediate.
