This is Mac OS X 10.4.4 for PowerPC. Of course it doesn't contain Intel code. They run EXACTLY the same way, same functions, code, but compiled for a different computer. 10.4.4 just brings them into perfect sync.

Apple could just never tell you AT ALL EVER about what they were planning on having implemented in the next release. You're waiting for Q2DX, I'm waiting for my terabtye DDR9 RAM and 10GHz P11 with 3 petabtyes of HD. Thank goodness for 20th Cent…

It occured to me to mention to everyone that says that the CoreImage version of PS would be different then the Windows version. Adobe could write their own filters that would act exactly like the Windows code. Adobe does not have to use Apple's fi…

Quote: Originally posted by melgross Creating a lie vs. correcting images? What the hell does that kind of judgemental nonsense mean? Apple =good. Adobe=bad? This app isn't even in the same league as Adobe Expression much less PS. You'll be…

A quick scan of the Specs page for Aperture shows that it's only "One click to edit in Photoshop". And then that Aperture can manage your Photoshop variations. The way I think of Photoshop and Aperture is that Photoshop is for creating a lie, an…

As far as FireWire booting, the Transition Kits have been reported to boot only from USB. I'd imagine Apple would eventually get FireWire on there before release of product. And to all you people who are disappointed with the specs, remember the…

They have a good deal to do with each other. QuickTime 7 involves itself much more with the hardware (Core Image, Core Video). Don't rant about them being Mac OS X technologies, the "Core" nature of these things involves a great deal of hardware …

There was an article a few months back about Google stealing one of Microsoft's top devs for Windows (which doesn't say a whole lot). And it has been rumored about a Google OS before, so this is nothing new. I think the statement about "pulling …

Does the Phaser 6100 fit into the reviews of Phasers done here? They're easier to come by and (therefore, supply-demand) cheaper. Is there any reason not to get this printer? Also, a comparison of the price and page count between the Phaser 860…

Well, I've done some other research and the Samsung CLP-5XX Series look good as well and oddly enough have almost the exact exterior of the Phaser 6100. The Phaser 840 Plus, Phaser 850DP, Phaser 6100, Samsung CLP-550, Phaser 860DP are what I am c…

The 'G' in G3/G4/G5 stands for generation, as in generation of processor family. My very first thought after finishing your post was "I6" for "Intel 6", but that doesn't work very well, so I went to "I1" since it will be the first Intel Mac. As a …

One question Quartz 2D Extreme? (On dial-up still, I'll get it at work tomorrow and put it on my shuffle. )

I had planned on upgrading in that time frame anyway, as my PowerBook is no approaching two years, and I'd like something more powerful (even if not portable). I'm also a Computer Science major and programmer type in general, and I WILL hold off an…

Grapher is great, I forgot about that in my post. I did a Calc II project for school with it and LaTeX (= free) as opposed to leaving my room and using the schools PCs with several hundred dollar software. I also found something that Apple reall…

As far as equations go, WebKit is going to be integrating MathML in the near future. I think it's one of the higher-interest To Dos that exists. If it can be abstracted or such so that Pages and Keynote and everything have access, that would be gr…

CoreData is now out in the wild as well. To be overly basic (having never used one either), adding database capabilities to iWork would be as "simple" as copying the view that displays the CoreData model in Xcode to a new application. And we all k…

Beat me to it actually. Just saw it on MacNN. Here's the link that MacNN sends you to if you want to read the article yourself. But yeah, I'd say this clears everything up as much as it can be. I wonder what the dev machines are? When are t…

Maybe, prolly not double; but Apple hires the best of the best of the best programmers and engineers and nerds and geeks. The guys writing code for PPC versions are likely smart enough to make things good for cross-compiling, with a special team th…

I think I've been sold on the idea of using Java for the VR. Also, using a single-shot 360-degrees rig is sounding like the best option, since we would likely rent and being able to go to all of our buildings in one day and snap pictures would be a…
