As with many businesses, Kodak derived considerable revenue supplying the military. Time was an aerial photograph was on film returned to earth for processing. Instant information is clearly preferred by the military. Of course, satellites now use…

Apple chose to sue Samsung which supplies the iPhone memory. Do they also have a plan to live without Samsung as a supplier? Maybe it is the subject which brings out such petty squabbling among posters.

It is up to the individual who expects privacy to behave carefully. Little Snitch told me google was tracking me to every website I visited following the change in gmail privacy settings last summer. I dropped my gmail account and two days latter…

I have a few kind words for Crayola. Education can be entertaining. My daughter (now in college) learned the names of colors from a Crayola paint program. When she chose a color, the program instantly pronounced it's name properly over the…

I have had the new macmini for a week. Two movies turned to snow screen. Working in the dark with Photoshop I thought I had hit a new screen degauss key command. I sure hope this upgrade fixes these events.

"And what if instead of grass you cover the roof with, say, a big algae pond? And then use the algae as either animal feed or as a biofuel?" I am a dreamer, too. However, installing any electronics under any water tank is asking for trouble. …

Ever tried to photo capture a bar code from a product? I believe most fixed focal length lens cell cameras don't even focus. Software sharpening is not the same as focusing.

I've read that Jobs was approached by medical interests about a handheld device in the past. Product liability in a lifesaving business could be a serious headache. But then he has recently been through that system and must have seen the obvious n…

[QUOTE=Wiggin;1452065]And it's not the FIRST story about abuses in a factory manufacturing Apple products. Quick poll: anyone remember the last one? No? Didn't think so. Ok, on this board, I'm sure there will be a handful of us that remember it,…

I bought the first mac mini model because my new Epson R1800 required OSX drivers. (That mini has two USB and one FW 400 port) It is 1.25 GHz PowerPC with a 167 MHz bus. I love the quiet little box! Very soon afterward, I added a NewerTech MiniS…

I'm posting via a 2003 powerbook. The concept of replacing a perfectly functional computer after 3 years does not fit into my plan. Older functioning computers are assigned tasks suitable for their capabilities. Or they are passed on to less demand…

We have been with T-Mobile for many years. They put up a new tower that covers our valley perfectly. If it worked tethered, I would drop our landline. (even if 3G was not yet available) I read that good ol' T-Mobile customers would have to…

I Googled "Wang Law Offices, PLLC, New York" and found a law firm in Flushing. People could call them directly to comment on their use of our (already overburdened) court system.

When I wiped and installed Tiger, I was surprised to find my cwk documents would not open. I installed Appleworks from the Panther discs to continue. The whole point of saving data is for viewing it again in the future. Saving files is an act of …

My external miniStack via firewire transfers data faster than the internal drive. My external DVD burner is faster than the SuperDrive would have been (CDRW installed in mini). My next monitor may be LED--an option NOT available at the time of pur…
