yeah theres nothing to be gained by going with a Core duo processor amd MB and the released version of Intel 10.4.4. The EFI thing is going to prevent it happening on a generic PC motherboard anytime soon (I'd guess). Best to go for any old Intel ch…

Quote: Originally posted by Guartho OK, here's a left field question. Could the 867 PPC7450 I'm replacing be made to work in a Rev 2 B&W G3 motherboard? I know the first PPC7400 G4 towers were the same logic board as their G3 predecessor…

The other thing (which was illuded to further up the thread) is that copying digital media is not illegal in every country in the world. So we cannot turn around to someone and say, "you are breaking the law", when they may not be....

Mr. Nev, where are you? Because if you are in Europe or the UK then you can buy iPods at the airport in Duty free shops and they will be cheaper, because you dont have to pay VAT. So in UK they are 17.5% cheaper at the aiport, quite a saving.

My guess is that they will keep sellin git until the intelbook is actually available and then introduce the 17" Macbook as well and kill off both high end G4 powerbooks in one go. The 17" Powerbook G4 now looks like a REALLY bad deal, its a total la…

What about that 10 inch widescreen Macbook Pro Mini? using an ULV Core Solo? Sony's mini widescreen book sells very well apparently.....

Also the Apple FW800 chipset is a Texas Instruments chip which is actually quite large in size (I've seen on on a PBG4 1.5 MB) and they may simply have not been able to fit it on the MB? Another possiblity is there may be no open PCI bus slots left …

Intel core solo chips are not due to be available till march, I would wait at least until then for an Intel iBook. and i dont think they will change the name of the iBook, they dont need to, and it has powerfully (pun intended) brand recognition

yes I expect we will see an SATA expresscard/34 pretty soon (actually SIIG has announced one but it is not yet available to buy)

I guess what I meant was: Is the future of the Powermac (not that it will be called that) going to be 1) very expensive many cored workstation box using workstation class CPU (like now) OR 2) Single processor multicored box using mainstream PC CP…

sorry I meant Intel chipset, there is only one chipset for the Core Duo processor (yonah) the 945M, it has Sata (obviously) but I believe that there needs to be explict support for eSATA, you cant just stick a connector on the edge of the motherboar…

I'm hoping the Macbook Pro (uurg, hate the name) will mature to gain an eSATA port, that would solve the problem of the lost FW800. I'm assuming the 945M motherboard the macbook has didnt support eSATA on the intel sata controller? I also think the …

errr, wouldnt it depend on if he has enough money to do so? I say get the mac mini, find out what OSX is all about, bearing in mind the speed is not going to be all there. Then when the Intel powermacs come along, assuming you can install Windows on…
