There's a couple of things I'm annoyed at with Jaguar, and one is that it breaks the Apple Remote Desktop App. The others are not even worth mentioning. Jaguar is responsive. It is actually incredible. The GUI has finally caught up with the syst…

Listen: games became so powerful that they NEEDED hardware acceleration just to become playable, and now you can't find a game that doesn't use hardware acceleration. I remember everyone flipping out then, too, but now it's commonplace. Months from …

From what I've read, everyone complaining is absolutely POSITIVE that the Jaguar update won't speed up their machines without supported hardware, and that's crap. Guys, two days ago you were saying you'd give ANYTHING to have OS X speed up. Apple ha…

Let's put these dude's arguements into perspective, okay? They're complaining about X, and defending their perfect OS. Let's now see what their perfect OS is: an OS that REQUIRES you to manage your own memory allocations to programs, an OS that requ…

You can call him Sue for all I care. Just as long as he fixes the file system, he's all right in my book. I'm sick of having to Disk Warrior my hard drive every three weeks because of fragmented directories. It kinda defeats the purpose of having a…

Bozo: agreed. Permissions in OS X are off, at best right now. But I have Jaguar, and Jaguar fixes a lot of these issues in Get Info panel. No more chown in the Terminal (for all of you who don't want or like to do so). As far as the idea of Gambi…

I wish someone would point me to a forum where I don't have to hear ignorant people whining about subjects they don't know about and don't care enough about to learn. Anybody know where one can find a place like that, a place free of stupid people m…

No Carbon app has antialiasing yet in OS X. The API for it has yet to be implemented. It WILL be implemented in the next update, 10.1.5, but then Carbon apps have to be updated to use the API. It should be a relatively simple update for developers t…

I think this argument is a waste of time. When the next update comes out, EVERYONE will get it, whether they have to pay for it or not. Some will bitch, some will be okay with it, some will say it wasn't worth it, while still others will say it's th…

Not true. If the APIs change within Carbon, all apps will have to be tweaked to hook into said API to get antialiased text. Not a big deal. Microsoft has already done it with Office X (which will be released in a month or so.)

You can close the thread now, Amorph has finally answered his question. Also, it's not about what the OS can do that others can't: that's Microsoft's philosophy. They add more and more features to out-feature everyone else, paying little at…
