I have a question for you: How did you get it? I'm starting to get irritated by the fact that it seems everyone around me has it, and I don't! Any particular place I should look? (I have ordered it, so I would not be pirating it)

This is getting annoying. If it's ready, why not ship it? I wish someone would create burnable disk images and post 'em online for those who have ordered and are being delayed. It's not fair to keep paying customers waiting.

Open System Preferences, and then the Network pane. In the Show menu, select Active Ports. Then uncheck all of the listed ports. This should help, if not completely fix, the problem.

I should point out that UTF8 only allows for 1-4 byte sequences, not 6. Six byte sequences are improperly formed and therefore illegal.

Basically, Unicode is a way to map a value to the appropriate glyph. The main advantage that Unicode has is that it has character mappings for just about every language you can imagine (Klingon not included; the application was rejected) in one ch…

You must mean the beautiful Quartz Antialiasing. This is standard Mac OS X behavior. Why on earth would you want it off?

Could someone explain this textually (and how to do it)? My poor old 56k modem does not mix well with 12 MB movie files.

I too bought from the Edu store. I'm in high school, and even though it's technically against their policy to sell to HS students, they'll do it (although if you get audited, you'll have to fax them a report card and Student ID card).

I should point out that Apple's dev tools are not Cocoa-only; you can write programs in Carbon, Java, and many other languages with them.

How can you not like the startup chime?!?!?! Also, the TS Sherlock screenshots seem to indicate that we can turn off the Metal look. Can anyone with recent Jaguar builds comment on this? I hope so - I hate the metal look!

mmurray, why not plug the printer into the AirPort base station? It should allow you to print with AirPort active, and even wirelessly!

Eugene, you are so descriptive! I use a number of commands, but these are some of the more common ones I use: ls [-la] path: Displays the contents of the foklder passed. If you include the -la part, it will show hidden files too. This…

When you say reinstall, do you mean you just used the installer over top of the existing install, or did you wipe the disk and reinstall? If you haven't wiped yet, delete the Print Center and reinstall OS X. Then try printing. If that doesn't…
