I don't care who copies/steals what. What matters is the implementation and if it's a good one. This goes for both Apple and Microsoft.

Just make sure not to get the combo drive. Try and get the super drive if you can.

Is it the size of the text or the amount of "blurriness" that is giving your 日本の妻 so much trouble? Also, have you changed the OS X interface to Japanese yet? Make her feel at home!

I'd stay with a Macbook Pro. The only reason I would ever consider getting a Macbook is if Apple made it really slim. (Rumored to come later in the year). However, I prefer the graphics card in the MBP just in case.

A thinner Macbook would justify the lack of a dedicated graphics card.

I have a glossy HP notebook and it is fantastic for watching media. I plan to get glossy on my MBP as well.

I'm also wondering about the 7200 RPM hard drive upgrade. If you've ever used a normal desktop and find it always seems a bit more responsive than a notebook, then I would go for the 7200 RPM drive. As for the extra 2 gigs, I don't need them. …
