$130 extra for 3G is a rip-off. The chip and antenna probably cost $0.50. Hell, the chip is probably just disabled in the non-3G.

Not for myself. A traditional netbook is better suited to my needs. I need multitasking, have lots of video the iPad won't play, and require the capacity of a mechanical hard drive. For my mother, however... a 16GB 3G iPad would be great. She nee…

VLC The ability to stream videos from a network share or USB drive, in codecs other than Apple's limited h.264/.mov family, is the "killer app" for me.

I like it. It looks fantastic. I just... don't know. It's an iPhone that doesn't fit in your pocket. I love the iPhone/iPod touch, but I'm not sure I would want one that did not fit in my pocket. I'm really going to have to think about this.

It's not a Mac, though. It's a book. An iBook.

It's a much better name than iSlate, at least.

All it really means is that Apple's law firm got to charge a few more billable hours.

The Core 2 Duo models will be updated to use the new i5 desktop processors (Clarkdale, 2 core/4 thread). Whether that comes soon or in a few months is an open question- there is no technical reason Apple could not make such an upgrade now, only busi…

Just to be clear, the mobile Radeon 5800 series is not the same chip as the desktop Radeon 5800 series. It's more like the desktop Radeon 5700 (probably the same GPU binned for lower voltage/heat). That's a bit of a name game ATI is playing, but it …

The 5600/5700 series, with 400SPs, is more likely than the full 800SP mobility 5800. Just for heat and power reasons. (for reference, 400 ATI SPs =~80 Nvidia SPs)
