Selling off XScale five years ago wasn't one of Intel's finer business decisions. Though Intel still has an ARM license.

Probably the same 2.3GHz i5 as in the lower-spec 13" MBP. That's probably what the plastic Macbook will get, as well.

A single processor 4 or 6 core would be a far better option for most people. Heck, most computer users won't notice a leap from two cores to four.

Almost all of them will work. It takes a 2.5" SATA drive. That describes most SSDs.

The Mac Pro (and PowerMac that preceded it) is a niche product, but I don't think the niche that Apple is selling it to will buy anything else. At least, not as long as they can.

I think it's more likely they're increasing the resolution of UI elements so you can zoom without pixelating things. For both accessibility and resolution independence.
