First Jena and now Murbot. This can't be happening...

Why, I play the role of amateur analyst. By "involved," I didn't mean that I had an actual job in the industry. Yet. But after much observation of key players and attendance to a few E3's, you can tell what's going on. Nintendo is almost a mani…

As someone involved in the game industry, I can tell you that there will never be a partnership between Apple and Nintendo, at least for the reasons you presented here. Nintendo's ethics and policies have always been of an extremely self-pretentious…

I didn't say that daughter card meant PCI. I meant that the concept of the daughter card was dying. Does the G5 even allow for that sort of thing with its highly-specific architecture? I thought Apple's connection to AMD ended with AirPort.

Has Windows XP been put on a pocket device? Whoa!

Quote: Originally posted by SS Manic Devlin Sorry buddy, but you got yourself another G4. It's not another G4 unless it stalls out somewhere around the 2.5GHz mark and leaves Mac users hanging for nearly two years without any speed-bumps, whil…

Because the G5 thrives among its rich bandwidth, the potential is questionable. Fitting a processor on an expansion card made sense back when G4's only had 133MHz busses in the high-end, and PCI could accommodate that. Even with PCI-X, 800MHz FSB is…

I think he means incompatibility with the G5 (i.e. apps that ran on previous Power Macs). I haven't heard anything about that, personally. And anyway, I didn't know that the dual G5's were shipping already and furthermore with their associated op…

Ooh, tough luck. If only it had shipped two days later. Apple has a ten-day refund policy. And no, twelve days won't cut it; I'm proof (new PBG4's were announced twelve days after my 800MHz Ti shipped -- and they're still the same damn PowerBooks we…

Man, that makes me want to fire up my Lindows box.

The 12" PowerBook is definitely NOT a gaming machine, even relative to other portables. The GeForce 4 MX is inferior to the iBooks' and other PowerBooks' Radeons (7500's, even; the Ti's have 9000's), and even the cache is bigger on the iBook than on…

I wouldn't buy a CRT in this day and age. The iMac sounds as if it will be updated soon, if ThinkSecret is to be believed (which they usually are). Perhaps on the 16th? The entry-level will be 1GHz with DDR memory. The pricing may be even lower than…

I don't think they mean 802.1x, because that could be quite a few IEEE standards. It's likely 802.11x, x being a variable for either b, a, or g. Mac OS X supports b and g (in fact, Apple has been shipping these wireless standards before most manu…

http://tcwo.com/ is where I go for this sort of thing. AthlonXP 2500+ Barton is the best value processor, IMO. This motherboard looks nice and cheap. This GeForce 4 MX should be sufficient. You'll need some 333MHz DDR RAM to get the added perform…

All points lead to further neglect of the PowerBook line. Just do this: get an entry-level iBook and a G5 ($1599 with EDU discount and lack of SuperDrive). Now you have power AND mobility, and you don't have to worry about getting the shaft.

By the time you get around to buying that G5, it will likely come with Panther installed, Cheapo.
