Touch bar's like pyjamas on a horse: cute, arguably even cool, but totally unnecessary, let alone useful. Drop it, Apple, save the money for improving the innards.

Google's probably going to run into trouble with Europe's GDPR rules, some form of which will be adopted in the U.S. sooner or later. That's going to be good for all of us.

While there are legitimate reasons to downgrade,, and maybe even to stay with an earlier version (probably mostly because older hardware, or some older necessary programs can't handle a newer OS), High Sierra is surely around to stay, and the way fo…

OS 11 hasn't been universally liked, and I'm a little disappointed Mr. Wuerthele didn't address some of the complaints. I, for instance, don't like the fact that the newest iTunes on Mac OS doesn't offer a look at apps, or a way to update them with …

I began using FMP when it was a pup, loved and used it a lot for many different DB's. But I finally gave it up somewhere around FMP 12, when I no longer really needed it (retired, stopped many, but not all activities), primarily because FMP's forma…

I’m a big Keynote user, and was hoping that Aplle would un-dumb it again at some point - mainly on Macs, but also the iOS version - and even improve it. Once more, that hasn’t happened. Bummer! I still prefer KN to PP, but I’m quite disappointed.

Happy as I was with Apple’s AirPorts for a long time, I’m happy they’re now getting out of the WiFi business. Unlike core proprietary Apple stuff - phones, computers, software - networking is a technology of its own. For many companies, this is thei…

This is really going to liven up the party. Tim Cook and the rest of the Apple board and it’s legal department are no dopes, and they’re not in this just for laughs. Coming right at this time, they’re clearly calling out both the EU and Trump. "Wadd…

I wonder if a future Apple TV might be in the works, something like a real TV, screen, sound and all - which would double as a hi-res monitor.

Interesting, because something similar happened to me UD-ing my iPhone 6s via iTunes, something I'd never encountered before. After installation was apparently finished, my phone went black, iTunes didn't register its presence, I tried turning it on…

I'll assume it works, so it's a good feature. (I never have a problem falling asleep, neither after computer work nor coffee, and I don't need a nightcap to help, so I can't test the difference.) As digitalclips just mentioned, computer screens, lap…

What's this "Obama ordered it", "Obama's DOJ ordered it" cr**??? What are you people smoking? Do some of you honestly believe either the FBI or Judge Sheri Pym were acting on Obama's orders, or consulted with him on this? I don't understand how you …

Contrary to update from 10.11 to .1 (and .2), which caused me a big problem I finally sorted out, this update has gone fine on both a newish AirBook and a 6-year-old MBPro. Only strange thing is that now, after updating successfully, the update is n…

While I have the impression that most users have had no problems with the .1 and .2 updates to El Capitan, many, like I, have had seemingly insurmountable problems, certainly of the incompatible software sort, such that the "updated" Macs won't even…

O-oh, it sounds as if the big problems many (not most, but many) had with 10.11.1 persist in another, but related, form in this beta. Let's hope the final version irons this out. I can't remember any update or upgrade in the past, going all the way …

Well, well, so Apple has decided to compete head-to-head with the music publishing establishment. It'll be interesting to see how this plays out.
