There are visual basic apps on versiontracker that will do the firmware updates. It worked for my Linksys router (not wireless) fine. I'd look into how easy administration is, and if you have to have a hardwired computer to administer the wi-fi a…

Thanks for the valuable terminal lesson. The sudo rm -Rf did not work unfotunately. The odd thing is that when I get info on the folder in question, the "Locked" checkbox is locked, but greyed out. When I use the sudo rm -Rf /path/to/folder, it …

A lot of people in video aren't switching, because many popular plugins haven't been ported. I've switched, and it's been painful. I still can't get over how SLOW OS X is, even in Jag. I am actually contemplating a switch to XP (faster OS, fa…

All I'm saying is that I have a 667 PB G4 that is less than a year old. When I compare Jagwire on it, against XP on my wife's 1.5 GHZ Celeron, I noticed that web browsing, scrolling, window responsiveness, application launching, and Flash performanc…

The only things I would miss are FCP and DVD Studio Pro. iPhoto is nice, but not crucial. I do prefer the Mac OS, but gosh, when it comes down to whether a render will take 2 days or a day and a half, which would you choose?

Quicktime is not an app. It is a framework, and a killer one at that. They should do the same thing for the web. Make a framework, and several specific apps that use that framework. 3rd parties can expand on those apps, creating specialized ones tha…

CD burning is totally f'd up. The CDs with directories no longer work on Windoze machines, making ISO 9660 burning essentially useless. I am not sure if this is a bug though. It looks like they tried to make CD burning too "user friendly" to the det…

Tabbed folders, or a tabbed dock, with the option of having multiple tabs for different user-defined classifications. A little "dock picker" tab on the side of the screen, ah la the OS 9 control strip, so those of us with Wacom tablets can actually …

Aubrey: Get VueScan. It works with (most) scanners, especially SCSI ones. That is really the only OSX alternative right now.

BTW, I forgot to mention AI 10. Illustrator 10 totally sucks in both 9 and 10. I have never been so disappointed with an Adobe Product. I've even considered switching to Freehand, since it came free with Studio MX. To fix the page setup page rand…

I don't really get all the posts about DW MX being s l o w... I only have a G4/450, and DW MX absolutely flies on it in X, compared to DW4 in OS 9. I switched over on one computer about 2 months ago, and then my other computer on Monday. To ma…

I'd like to see the same interface for creating PDFs from it as in InD. I'd also like to see transform functions that match photoshop (especially free distort). Even better-- I'd rather see distortion features that match the tools in AE productio…

Actually, this probably will happen... There has been talk about wheeling and dealing like this going on in SF for the past 6 mos. And yes, you will be kissing Flash for the Mac goodbye... But that may give rise to other SVG open source soluti…

something that will find my car keys or checkbook when I've misplaced them. That'd be cool.

It works fine on my G4/450. I don't see how the graphics card bus speed would have any effect, except perhaps in the preview mode. And in that case you mainly use that mode to make sure the links work. I mux everything to get a true preview.

Hopefully soon... with true 16x9 support

I took his advice to switch to InDesign... and have never looked back. It's a little slow, but I expect that will be fixed in the next version. Quark can spiral smoking into the ground as far as I am concerned.
