As another example, does anyone remember when Apple charged $1.99 or some such ridiculous amount for an update to 802.11n; the reason Apple felt the need to do that is SOP 97-2. edited for clarity

@VascoBill I disagree that they will discontinue use of subscription based accounting since I assume Apple will continue to release major software updates for the iPhone. See my above post for more details.
