I bet they hear Siri being called "idiot" a lot. That's my go to response when it tries to take me to an address 3 states away instead of the same address 3 miles away. I have literally had it complain that it could not find a route to England from …

My buying decision is gated on the keyboard. It doesn't matter what else it has: fail keyboard = fail machine. I buy Macs. I have directly purchased dozens of them since the 512ke. Apple needs to scrap the crappy butterfly keyboard before I will con…

I just took a look. Photoshop CS5.5 says it is 64 bits in the system report. I note that it "requires QuickTime", which is being pulled out of Catalina. Hopefully it is not a hard requirement. I wouldn't mind getting the CS6 version. If it works.

This is why T-Mobile should not be allowed to merge with Sprint.

microLED is where this is all headed. I know it is years off, but I already waited years anyway, and the screens I have now will see me through in any case.

It might be time to start measuring transistor size in picometers.

Amazon is very very unlikely to be to blame here. They provide cloud computing service to third-parties through Amazon Web Services. My company has switched to these services and is in the process of closing our physical data center operations. The…

A bad angle of attack sensor, a physical device, would seem like an obvious point of failure. Even if the software were perfect, a bad sensor could basically plunge the plane into the ground. Pilots were not universally trained on disabling MCAS, bu…

I for one miss the days of renting my phone from AT&T and buying my gasoline from Standard Oil. I am glad there are brave editors in this world that understand and resist the urge to break up monopolies.

Canada has similar user data requirements. It just isn't run by a brutal dictatorship. The issue here isn't so much the requirement, it is the risk that the government will abuse it.
