Anyone that advocates this is untrustworthy. They are advocating allowing access to stolen laptops (or in this case devices earmarked for destruction being semi-illegally repurposed) not only for a working laptop but also all the data on that laptop…

"Previous Geekbench scores for the M1 Mac mini, then, have scores of 1651 single-core and 5181 multi-core." This part makes no sense though it is interesting that MacRumors copied it but then later updated the scores to be correct. The actual score…

So the status page finally shows some outages but it still isn't complete. It is showing iCloud web apps as available but clearly they aren't if you try to go to iCloud.com. Again, what is the point of the status page that doesn't show actual servic…

What is the point of the System Status page if it is just going to always report everything green. Right now, as far as I can tell, anything requiring AppleID authentication is down. According to Find My on my Mac, the last time I was able to contac…

I bought a 32x16” leather desk mat for $13 on Amazon. I can’t imagine what this one has to make it better.

The iPad mini 6 supports 5G up to 3.5 Gbps. I don’t think any US carrier has support for speeds that high though. I can get just under 1Gbps near my home on T-Mobile with their sub-6 bands which will be fine for my use. I’d be curious if anyone has …

EXSi is a type-1 hypervisor which means it runs on bare metal not on MacOS. Getting that to work on an Intel Mac is probably doable but you would have to work around the T2 boot loader restrictions. Getting it to work on an Apple silicon Mac is goin…

Everyone is making this too complicated. This law only applies to in-app-purchases. A very simple solution is to disallow free apps with non-Apple payment for IAP. Make an app with IAP that doesn’t use the App Store for payment have a minimum price…

Optimized charging works for me.

Insta-buy. I use my M1 MacBook Air mostly in clamshell mode at my desk. Having the Touch ID available is going to be a huge time saver. But wow, nearly $200 (after taxes) for the extended version with the usable cursor keys layout. Comes Thursday.

Ironic considering Nadella was practically begging Apple to port Messages to Windows. I think that at the same time as that request that they disable official Mac support for Windows should be examined by anti-trust investigators. Seems fishy to me.…

Got excited for a moment but then read that it was an Arm64 emulated on a x86-64 CPU on Linux. Why not use an M1 Mac with QEMU’s hvf accelerator to virtualize MacOS at nearly native speed. Oh well, maybe there is enough info in the paper to do this.…
