  • For point 2, wouldn't Apple Remote Desktop fit the bill? Wish it was free though.

  • Or it's likely that speech just hates you It's very finicky, works half the time, and really isn't that useful... not really more efficient than mouse/keyboard (esp considering the misses).
  • The analogy I've heard is that if the G4s were "short" and "wide", where the Pentiums are "long" and "narrow", the G5 can be described as "long" and "wide". Perhaps this indicates a much greater bandwidth for the G5?
  • Guys, this isn't the OS 9 days... Adium 2 is an isolated app under protected memory that doesn't screw with the kernel, it cannot be taking down the system so easily. Should be something else. (and I've never had issue with Adium 2 alphas)
  • I thought adding additional drives didn't void the warranty
  • They probably do not have auto sensing ports. You'll need a cross-over ethernet cable, not a standard one, or a hub/switch to connect them. Then just set both of the computers to use DHCP for the ethernet port and they should find themselves. …

  • You know, instead of buying a pepsi, you could go and just buy the song and save 200 calories from your beer belly.
  • Check www.willowdesign.com They are going out of business so they are liquidating their inventory, but they made some nice premium computer cases (particularly for Apples).
  • I think apple will never ever update their technology. They will never go past the 2ghz barrier, they will never add support for more than 8GB RAM, they will never ship better video cards. They will forever sell the same G5 they are using now. Re…
  • What protocol are you using to transfer? Also run Activity Monitor.app to check network traffic, check actual speeds.
  • RAID = redundant array of independent disks... You can read about it at http://searchstorage.techtarget.com/...214332,00.html Basically you can trade storage space for reliability, or reliability for performance with RAID.
  • All I want are hierarchal playlists...
  • Because linux can be installed on existing hardware, i.e. cost = $0, that is why people do not consider the Mac (and lack of experience with the Mac to invest $$). Personally I see linux's growth a good thing for Apple, for one reason, most of th…
  • If you get a TI-89, you have a moto 68k processor, therefore you have a portable mac pda (ok wishful thinking). The 89 definitely spoiled me during high school and is definitely needed in my engineering education. It is annoying that it probably…
  • Though I wonder how Apple checks if you are a student, you don't ever send them proof that you are a student. I guess Apple checks with your school or something.
  • You can certainly do stuff with pci radeons, a pci radeon 7000 is probably better than, say, an AGP rage 128, but higher AGP cards will be a lot better.
  • It shouldn't cost a thing to make the battery flush with the case, might as well have some perfection... I mean, this is apple after all.
