Dear editor, There are no infrared microscope pictures here. The first picture is made on an optical microscope and the second one is made on a SEM (scanning electron microscope).

It seems A5X contains only processor SoC packaged in conventional IC package with thermal heat sink. 1 GB DRAM is packaged in separate ICs and is not part of of A5X processor module as in A4 and A5 before. That is the biggest surprise today!

X-Ray does not prove anything related to Samsung, the title is quite stupid Only comparing cross-section SEM photos of A5, actually of SoC APL0498, to a A4 (APL0398) or other Samsung made ICs could indicate that Samsung had produced APL0498...

We are witnessing a new A4 CPU Version in iPhone 4 CDMA: - different Apple PoP part number 339S0123 (original iPhone 4: 339S0108) - different Samsung DRAM incorporated K4265J1PB-50-F (original iPhone 4: K4X4G643GB) - same processor SoC die mark…

Just a correction - Apple A4 Part Number Marking is 339S0084. K4X2G643GE is designation of Samsung DRAM die inside A4 module.

What is missing in this short Appleinsider report is that iPhone includes new version of Apple A4 mobile processor module. The new A4 part number is 339S0108, the module has 512MB on-board RAM.

It might be possible that we will meet a second version of Apple A4 processor: - Apple A4 with 256MB DRAM in lowest cost, 16GB, version of iPhone 4G as well as in iPad - Apple A4 with 512MB DRAM in higher end iPhone 4G, with 32GB and, possibly, …

The guy erased serial numbers on the photo, but forgot to erase unique MAC addresses :-)

It seems, the Apple A4 version is the same as in iPad: - The CPU die marking is the same: APL0398 - Samsung DRAM marking is the same: K4X2G643GE - Apple PN identification (I believe) is exactly the same: 339S0084 The last marking part could …

I have never seen a single iSupply report and I am not sure about their cost calculation methods, but I really doubt in their numbers. Let us just compare the numbers for commodity part, 8GB MLC NAND FLASH in TSOP48: - today's average spot p…

The original NYT article contains wrong assertions: Quote: Apple was the first company to make a really aspirational device that wasn?t based on Intel chips and Microsoft?s Windows,? said Fred Weber, a chip industry veteran. ?The iPhone broke some…

Intel 86 architecture is not so universal to cover all applications in the world... Intel corrections: http://www.theinquirer.net/gb/inquir...mean-arm-apple

Primitive Intel bashing... after losing Apple Mobile as potential customer. I am sure Apple had thoroughly evaluated Moorestown platform and roadmaps before putting a cross on it.
