I actually had this problem with my G4 Dual 450. Nothing worked; finally had to install via firewire target disk mode.

Yup, as long as you have a fast comp like your powerbook, X.2 is zippy. I haven't gotten a good chance to look at the new rainbow wheel since I don't see it often on my DP 450.

Did 10.0 let you burn data cds or was it 10.1? If it does, you should be able to just drag files onto the cd and select burn from the menu.
