For those with this build, can you explain how the Addressbook sharing works? Is it for sharing between multiple users on the same box, users over Rendezvous, or over the internet? Or perhaps all of the above? I think knowing the answer to this coul…

Why do I think that I'm about to be disappointed by another fake? :-)

Don't get too excited. The Power 5 is going to first be in IBM's large iSeries (AS/400) servers, then the pSeries (formerly RS/6000). We won't see a chopped down Power 5 (the 970 is a little brother to the Power 4) anytime soon. Certainly not this y…

Windows has had "Show Desktop" for years. But that's hardly Expose'. There's nothing here folks, these aren't the droids you're looking for. John

I have to agree with the Home/End issue. I realize that the Mac way has been around a long time, but this is a major, major annoyance for longtime Windows users. I know, because it drove me crazy when I switched two years ago. I have since learned t…

Believe it or not, this is by design. You're supposed to hook up an external monitor (or use your camcorder) to hear the audio. Strange, I know, and something I hope they fix. John

Looks like MirrorAgent has some references to the home directory: $ strings MirrorAgent |grep -i home |more Agent/home.c home inithome outHome inithomewithhome inHome checkHomeSupportsSymlinks acquirehome home->refcount >= 0 relea…

Looks like it's the same technology used for the iDisk syncing. This could turn out to be really cool. /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/FileSync.framework /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/FileSync.framework/FileSync /System/Library/PrivateFr…

There's nothing on the Mac like what you're thinking of on the PC. There's no program like AdAware, and you don't need one. You won't need an anti-virus program either. Cheers, John

Welcome to the Mac. You'll find a few things won't work the way you're used to, but if you learn the Mac way you'll quickly find that you like it at least as much, and in many cases better. That was my experience as a switcher two years ago. I was a…

I just got back from the South Coast Plaza (costa mesa, Ca) store and saw both the 1.6 and 1.8 units. They had them both in stock too. I wasn't very impressed with the speed. It really didn't seem any faster than the 1ghz Powerbook sitting next to i…

Forgive me..... Is it Snappy? :-) Seriously though, how does the system feel in comparision to your dual 1.25 g4? Cheers, John

I switched in February 2002 and haven't looked back. I had all the same concerns you have and none have been a problem. My 867mhz Powermac could be faster, but it's amazing how much faster things have gotten just with OS X updates. 10.1 to 10.2 was …

I'd love to see some iCal screenshots. Can one of you post some? Thanks to everyone for the great info! Cheers, John

While playing with panther I discovered a few things I haven't seen mentioned before so I thought I'd post some screenshots! :-) When viewing an email you can turn off HTML image loading, but in Panther it gives you an option to load the images. …

My guess is a bluetooth headset. There's the new bluetooth voice gateway in 10.2.5, and we are always speculating on iChat audio/video. So this is certainly a possibility. It would also be excellent for speech recognition. John
