  • You need to take it apart completely and make sure everything is dry. Speed is imperative for this sort of thing. Letting highly acidic beverages sit in the airless nooks and crannies of your laptop is an almost guaranteed recipe for permanent co…

  • Hooking up multiple cords from one component to the other isn't going to help you. Both your gigabit switch and the Airport Extreme router should operate in full-duplex mode, which means your effective bandwidth is 200Mb/s. I don't think you'l…

  • I found this thread via Google. Strangely enough, he attributes the problem (I think) to a checksum error due to bad RAM. Bizarre. Worth a shot though, I suppose.
  • If the above suggestions prove fruitless, you might want to look into USB Overdrive. I've heard lots of complaints about the Logitech Control Center (haven't experienced any of them myself), and people say that USB Overdrive is a fair replacement f…

  • If you feel like using linux, you can use netatalk to easily share drives via appletalk/appleshare.
  • You can change your MAC address to spoof the original computer as well, if it comes down to it. Not all network hardware supports this, but most do. sudo ifconfig en0 ether aa:bb:cc:dd:ee:ffThis has come in ...handy... several times.

  • Keep in mind, however, that a lot of ISP's block incoming requests on port 80, which would mean that people on the "outside" still can't access your self-hosted site. Cox communications for example, does this, which is why I have to use port 8080.

  • royboy is correct. All you have to do is pop in the new RAM, and the system should recognize it immediately. The iMac doesn't need matched RAM or anything of that nature, so it's very straightforward.
