  • This has been quite an interesting thread to read through. I think there are some underlying assumptions that need to be addressed though. I think that the whole basis on which the argument is based is somewhat faulty. A child should be conside…

  • Apple mice effectively have two buttons anyway.. just for some reason they placed one on the keyboard. Once you realise this it is no better than a PC and no worse, just different. Same way that a Apple keyboard switches the effects of CTRL an…
  • Quote: The most effective use of two buttons in any application I've seen was Opera for Windows. Their mouse "gestures" (which I put in quotes because they are quite different than any gestures I've seen in any other app) utilize two buttons. For e…

  • I wonder, with a couple months to go before the introducion of the PowerMac, whether the other products (Powerbook, iMac) will not also be updated to use the 970 in subsequent announcements to ship at the same time. Seems to me to be a good way t…
  • Can you seriously not simply change the size of the text up a bit and be able to read a higher res font? For CAD work and whatnot, more resolution is always helpful. Is the interface that fixed that it cannot be adapted to a higher res?

  • There is a clear definition.. powermacs have dual processors. Shouldn't need any more than that. There is no reason that an iMac should have a out of date processor once something competitve becomes available.
  • Based on nothing in particular a nice lineup to see whould be.. PowerMacs Dual 1.4 Dual 1.6 Dual 1.8 iMacs Single 1.4 Single 1.6 Single 1.8 PowerBooks Single 1.2 (regardless of screen size) All released straight off. If you…
  • [quote] The coolest thing they could do was to have a sort of low key introduction. Imagine a computer game show with Apple showing a bake of of DOOM III between the fastest Pentium 4 and powermac with dual 2.5 970 stoping all over the P4 not onl…
  • I think that Apple could quite easily produce a 970 based headless consumer machine that would sell for ~$500 US, while still maintaining their 30% margins on it. They would also offer a matching screen to purchase separately, if needed. In som…
  • Just from watching my boss (mac addict for a long time, never uses PC) struggle with a 3 button mouse but enjoying the scroll wheel, how about a single button mouse with a clickable scroll wheel... gets around apple having to desert their long help …
  • Apple probably keeps a version of OSX for x86 going to keep a little bit of leverage over Microsoft. 'Pull Office and we may just drop this onto the market...'
  • This is a question more than anything else, but lets assume a 2Ghz processor on a .09 process. 1. Could the FSB be moved up to 333Mhz SDR at the same time. I.E is it possible to scale the FSB with the processor? 2. Can you feed a pair (pr…
  • Just a thought.. IBM produces P5 for Apple. Apple licences OSX for IBM.
