Dismissing or not appreciating classical music is not acceptable? As in you don't accept it? That's fine, stevegongrui, but you can't expect everyone in the world not to accept it either. It may be hard to fathom, but the world does not revolve arou…

Agh! I can't believe anyone insisting that not liking something that's outside the mainstream?whatever that may be?is a sign of ignorance. You hear comments like that all the time?"Well you just haven't been exposed to the right kind of (insert musi…

I think it would be the same situation if someone here started a thread to point AI members to a punk band's new album, asking everyone, "Isn't this this a great album?" (waits for responses to pour in) "NO ONE??" You've made the argument that ta…

Which is exactly the same place where you can set whether you check for new e-mail manually or Mail checks for new messages for you on a schedule. Disabling the sounds for "other Mail actions" will prevent you from hearing any sound other than the N…

Mail checks for new mail on its own at an interval you can specify in Preferences, and if there isn't any, the "No Mail" sound never plays. Why not wait for the mailman to arrive instead of opening the mailbox door every ten seconds?

How about just setting Mail to check your mailbox periodically on its own? It seems that the only time I hear the "No Mail" sound is when I press the button to check for new mail, and there doesn't happen to be any. But I'm on a cable modem and Mail…

How about that. From the post in that thread, it seems that entering a credit card number isn't required if you're new to iTMS and signing up just to redeem a gift certificate. Myahmac, you'll have to try that with your sister and let everyone know…

And you know what? I'm totally with you... the GC policy seems to be a little misleading. On the iTMS page where you can send a Gift Certificate, it explains that GC purchases will be billed to your credit card. I'm surprised that GC recipients wou…

Well then she'll have to use someone's credit card number to redeem the gift certificate, and until she gets a credit card or a bank check card, that card number will be tied to her iTMS account. I don't use an actual credit card for iTMS purchases …

Instead of giving your sister a gift certificate, which can only be redeemed by another iTMS member with their own credit card, you could have given her an iTunes Allowance. Monthly allowances can be anywhere from $10 to $200. Your sister will have …

This thread's already got a second page of posts, and no one has been linking to songs in the iTMS yet? I'd vote for any song?any song?by either Steely Dan or Ryan Adams

It irks me to constantly see references to there being a difference between a Macintosh (personal computer) and a "PC", which this poll implies. It helps Windows diehards/blowhards with their argument that the Macintosh isn't fit to be called a comp…

If you happen to see a television advertisement for the Christian Children's Fund with a 9-year-old girl singing "Amazing Grace" (as opposed to an older ad with a man singing the same song), listen for the piano at the end. That's me. The music for …

Thanks, crazychester. (Great name! That's the verse I sing when my side project band?just a bar band that plays covers?plays "The Weight") I feel like a heel for just using loops so far, but right now my Korg piano is at my MAIN band's practice spot…

Well right off I'd say it might have something to do with the speed of your Mac's processor. The system requirements say the minimum requirement is a 600 MHz G3. Now, how that stacks up against a 533 MHz G4 probably depends on the kind of work you t…

Put it in your Music folder. The link to that file would look like this: Code: Song

First little nitpick: In a decidedly un-Apple-like way, when you click on the widget to close the GarageBand window, the application quits. You can't have more than one song open at a time (which is fine and makes sense from a memory and performa…

First attempt The only instrument that's not a loop in that one is the bass guitar, which I played with my mouse on the on-screen keyboard, so I didn't get fancy. Once I get my Korg digital piano working as a MIDI workstation, I'll get a lot more…

I was driving a nice young woman home one evening when I started to have the most terrible gas I'd ever experienced. To keep the car from filling up with noxious fumes, I opened the windows more and more with each successive fart, but there was noth…

I watched the Keynote again (and found a clip of just the Mayer performance). From following the bass, the chord changes in Mayer composition go from C to A flat to F minor back up to C. The rhythm guitar that kicks in stays in C the whole time, but…
