Here's my view of the Intel roadmap and how it fits Mac models by the end of the year. Core Duo (Yonah) replaces Celeron and Celeron M and will be in the MacMini and iBook replacement. Merom (64 bit) replaces Pentium M and will be in the Mac…

So what are the chances of a widescreen 11.3 inch sub-notebook?

IMHO, nope. There's no reason for Apple to sell a retail version of Tiger for Intel. They'll wait for Leopard.

SheepShaver and Basilisk II do seem to be the best answer now that the Classic Environment is on life support. However it would be very helpful if Apple relieved the developers of any intellectual property concerns and maybe even spent a little of i…

We don't want no stinkin' stickers! It will be tastefully printed on the cardboard box.

Yes, it's likely the Mac Mini will be one the first Intel Macs and my quess is next April. Apple doesn't seem to be interested in the relatively ineffecient Pentium 4 (Netburst architecture) and the current Pentium M probably isn't suitable for use …

We might possibly see dual-core G5s at the Paris Expo, but I think MWSF in January is more likely. High end and Xserve will get dual dual cores.

The names Powerbook and iMac are too valuable for Apple to give up. I wouldn't be too surprised if Power Mac was replaced with something else.

Intel Inside will be on the cardboard box and in ads & commercials. That should enough for Apple to get the ad money from Intel.

Apple has already said they won't sell or support Windows so whether a Mactel will boot Windows is a non-issue to them. It's up to Microsoft to support or not support the booting of Windows on the Mactels. Apple certainly won't stop anyone from runn…

Apple chose Intel because it's mutually beneficial. Intel has a huge R&D budget and Apple isn't stuck on legacy hardware the way PC manufacturers are. Where would USB be today without apple?

I'm just guessing that Apple doesn't like the VPU in the Pentium-M. Since Apple has been developing OS X for x86 for five years, any Velocity Engine code in OS X PPC probably has SSE counterparts. Yonah is supposed to get an improved VPU that's the …

Those complaining about the anemic FSB, etc. of the 7448 don't seem to realize that the 8641 addresses those problems. However the 8641 requires a new motherboard and probably will come out about the same time as Intel's Yonah. Also it looks like …

I don't think we'll ever see the PPC 7448 in a Mini or an iBook. This is a new chip and it will be relatively expensive until about this time next year. IMHO Freescale will also sell a slightly higher than 1.7 GHz clockspeed to Apple.
