  • Well, if it becomes true that iLife and iWork (or even only iLife) '07 come free with Leopard, that's a steal. Of course, if you only want to update to the newest version of iLife and stay with Tiger, the bundling would make upgrading more expensive…
  • let's just hope that this first iPhone will be replaced by an UMTS, 3.2 MP back and 1 MP front camera iPhone II _before_ it hits Europe. else they'll have to sell it for less than half the price with a _one_ year contract if they want to sell any.
  • They changed the magsafe adapter _only_ because people were too stupid not to pull the thing out directly and instead to bend it up- or downwards slightly? Wouldn't it have been cheaper to include a small paper with some illustration on how to use t…
  • Newton.
  • The 30 GB model has the _same_ capacity for the same physical size, of course.

  • Back on topic. ... I didn't say the integrated graphics was the best thing since sliced bread, Aurora. I'm *aware* of the fact that it's a _very_ low-end solution. I'm just saying that the MacBook _is_ just that: It's Apple's very low-end notebook.…
  • You should download RC2 of Parallels Workstation, install Windows in a virtual machine and try it out. What else _is_ there to do?
  • I can only talk about _my_ experience here. 1.83 GHz MacBook white with 2 GB of RAM, no silly plastic foil on the openings below the screen. CoreDuoTemp shows it's running at 1.83 GHz when under load and scales down nicely to 1.67, 1.5 and 1.33 GHz …
  • Let's be honest here, shall we. You do _not_ need more than what the intel chip provides *UNLESS* you want to play recent 3D games. Anything else, that chip'll do. If you _really_, _truly_ feel strongly about not having such a chip, simply don't buy…
  • My guess is we'll see the Core 2 Duo in MBPs this Autumn and in MBs in January. Would also go nicely with that 6/9 months theory. Before that, a little speedbump may be done. Or maybe they _will_ give the MB a dedicated graphics card at some point (…
  • Dunno which voices say anything to the contrary, but in my experience, the MBP gets hotter (much!) than the MB and also definitely has less battery life. If you want a cooler and longer running notebook, get the MacBook. It's not as cool as the old …
  • Not much. Well: I want Apple to offer it for _free_ and with a nicer interface. ... But if they don't go anywhere with BootCamp (basically just finalizing what they have now with updated drivers etc.) I'm happy using Parallels, no problem. I just t…
  • Sadly, it's Mac OS X 10.4.11 not Mac OS X 4.11 ... And to bring up Windows in such an argument is just bad taste. :P ... I guess Apple will simply freak us all out and go with 10.4.9.1 instead.
  • The first thing users usually do when they have Windows running on their Macs (either through VPC or Parallels Workstation or BootCamp) is to find ways to move files between the two platforms. And there starts the danger for hosing your OS X install…
  • I heard some reports of people having more heat related problems with 7200 rpm drives. I've put in a 100 GB 5400 rpm drive and heat is the same as with the original 60 GB drive. Works perfectly and wasn't too expensive either.
  • Well, if they have a printer which is supported on Macs, it's quite clear why they have a driver for it available, right? Nothing to do with them delivering Dells with OS X or anything. Sometimes speculation just rides the masses.
  • I personally switched to OS X from OS 9 with Mac OS X Public Beta, but I've had a few colleagues that were quite resistant. But the last of those switched when Jaguar (10.2) came out. Not only was it 'good enough', but that's about when they started…
  • The latest G3 iBooks are too young for Apple to totally kill the G3 with Tiger. My guess is we won't see any machine lay-offs with Tiger. Apple mentioned that they're slowing down their OS release cycle. So if Tiger is released Dec. 04/Jan. 05 and 1…
  • Yep for ADC testers. There's a bit of info on my site: http://macintosh.fryke.com/cgi-bin/m...cgi/2004/03/10 - But nothing much new to report... Build feels finished, as did 7F34 and 7F38.
