  • The Apple-installed Pioneer DVR-109s have custom firmware. Tiger has built-in unofficial support for the regular pioneer 109s so you can do most CD & DVD burning but you do need the custom Apple firmware to burn dual-layer with iDVD.

  • You can upgrade RAM later but you can't OC your CPU later. I'd go with the extra GHz, suffer for a short while with low RAM, then buy 1GB and install it myself within a couple of months time.

  • Well it seems that Tiger recognizes and burns to the Pioneer DVR-109 for those who installed on their macs. Haven't heard anything about DVR-108s. No reports of Tiger unlocking the crippled firmware either.
