  • Check out the bottom of this page: http://www.apple.com/macosx/features/ichat/
  • Maybe if you buy a mini on the day that 10.4 ships, Apple might sell you a 10.3 mini with a retail box of 10.4. They have done stuff like this in the past.

  • Yep. That's an old update. That update only shows up for digital audio PowerMac G4s. And it only installs if you have an affected hard drive. Apparently some OEM drives had reliability problems. You must have recently reinstalled OS X.

  • Are you upgrading a computer that you already own? If so, then it's cheaper to install the drive yourself. It's hard to say how easy it will be until you tell us what model of computer that you have. BTW, you should've posted in the genius bar fo…

  • I've chatted several times after the update. No problems here. My machine is a PowerMac dual 1.25 G4 (FW800 model).
  • Does the Mac mini have the same problem? It might be a problem with the PowerMac. Maybe the antenna cable is loose.
  • Does 10.3.8 have native support for any Dual-layer drive? I think there's support for the pioneer laptop drive but I haven't heard of any desktop drives yet. If you are a owner of a DL drive please let me know. Thanks.
  • It's probably possible with the proper tools (soldering iron, hacksaw etc.) and the appropriate technical knowledge. But most people won't be able to do it even with instructions posted on the web.

  • I doubt that they will eliminate the eMac completely. But IMO, the eMac will become more and more education-oriented. eMacs might become optical-driveless and maybe only available through the Apple Education Store.

  • How old are the Macs? What are their model #s?

  • DSL is greatly affected by the distance from your house to the closest switchboard. If there is a way to find out, check to see how far. After 2 kilometers (1.25 miles), the DSL speed drops dramatically. After 6 kilometers, you might as well get dia…
  • As already mentioned by many people, a CPU upgrade will produce the most visible speed increases. However, there are incompatibilities between hardware and problems with VRMs so don't just buy any CPU upgrade. Check out this site: http://forum…
  • I think that the superdrive eMacs are gone for good. Schools do not need superdrive equipped eMacs and most consumers will go for the mini or the iMac if they need DVD-burning capability. But I do think that the eMacs will be updated soon...altho…
