  • This is just a way for the record industry to make more money and sadly it will be the format that wins. Clearly they didn't learn anything from the Peer to Peer hayday. The price and controls will keep on increasing until and the fans will suffer.

  • Well apprently it's working according to this C-Net article. Survey: Some iPod fans dump PCs for Macs The only downside is that most of the people are stylewise and have money.
  • I've said the following in other topics like this and I think it's true. Apple loves the AIO concept and the only time they've offered a headless consumer was the Cube and it was an untenable product. It was neat but ahead of its time and a deadend…
  • The eMac is an education machine and the whole appeal is it being a AIO. Apple may offer a eMac flat panel someday but I don't think right now. If Apple were offer a consumer headless, which I don't think they'll ever do, they'd need to really do i…

  • It would be nice if Apple allowed a small consumer tower, but as somebody pointed out maybe the new iMac could be that if the video card could be replaced. As I see it there are a few reasons why Apple doesn't like consumer towers. 1. Jobs et. a…
  • They look like neat units and I look forward to seeing them in peson, but I have to agree with those who wanted more RAM. The top end model should be 512 MB and a 128 MP video card would have been nice. Still. I might get one on the next rev if I ca…

  • All this talk is interesting, but it doesn't mean a hell of a lot without knowing a few things like: A. What does Apple (Jobs) know that we don't about their market and where they want to go. B. Is Apple/Jobs really clueless about what consume…

  • Marketshare is very important and I agree that 10% is the most likely number Apple could reach. It's still far away though. However, even more important to Apple is mindshare and what you might call "comfortshare" i.e. Windblows users feeling they'd…
  • Nothing good would come from clones and Apple knows this so it will never happen. People want to think that clones, well done, will just recreate the Intel/MS juggernaut and give Apple (consumers really) a price break, jump start, whatever. It won'…
  • I'm going with Think Secret. New iPods, iLife but nothing else except for a new xserve, maybe. No new desktops at all.
