  • If there was a 23" HD iMac I'd buy it tomorrow. But there isn't... Which is good news for my bank manager and bad news for the credit card company.

  • I use VLC to play AVI files and it works very well. In fact I use it for most movie files now. It has great compatability http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/14738 Far simpler than searching for endless Quicktime codecs.
  • I didnt bother with Panther and to be honest I certainly havent felt left out. My Mac still works fine. Bumped up the 800mhz iMac to 768mb RAM to accomodate Tiger though. Just starting to find some compatability issues with 10.2.

  • I still use my Grandads old mahogany wireless from the 1930's. Sound quality is still excellent. If it had a built in battery it would have been in the trash by 1935. Bloody built in obsolescence.
  • The only thing that'll ever get me to buy an iPod (well almost the only thing) is a replacable battery. Surely this is possible without affecting the design too much. 500 charges, maybe more, maybe less and my iPod's useless? No thanks.

  • What do you really need a better graphics card for? Do you intend to do high end graphics work? If it's only for playing games then may I suggest buying a Gamecube, Xbox or Playastation.
  • I'm still running OSX.2 with 256mb on a G4 iMac. 2005 will see me get a RAM upgrade, external hard drive and Tiger all fitted. Should last until the next iMac design at least
  • Switchers will already have a keyboard and mouse and monitor they can use so that argument is silly. Pick up a Mac mini for peanuts and just dump your Windoze tower. Genius.

  • You still can't put photo's on directly from your camera whilst on the move? You still need a Belkin jumbo card reader thingy? Still can't stick in a replacement battery pack? Well it's an improvement but I'll be waiting a bit longer.
  • The new iMsc is a good product, quite revolutionary even. It just doesn't have the 'Oh my God!' impact of the last two designs.
  • Blu-Ray is going in the Playstation 3 so it's adoption as industry standard would seem to be merely a formality. 20+ million people will have Blu-Ray in their homes via the back door by 2006.
  • 8 gig? Wake me up when they introduce Blu-Ray or equivalent in the high end machines. My bet is mid 2006 at latest. They'll even be in the kids game console by then.
